Who are we?

Deon Minnies is a public health management consultant, educator and a certified RAAB trainer and the Director of the Community Eye Health Institute (UCT-CEHI) in the Division of Ophthalmology at the  University of Cape Town, South Africa.  He  is (amongst others) responsible for convening and teaching the Postgraduate Diploma and Master of Public Health in Community Eye Health and manages several NGO-funded eye care capacity development projects.  He has vast experience conducting training, planning and advisory consultancies in disability and eye care in sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and the Middle East. His keen interest is to help strengthen public health services through strategic leadership and management development, and support provided for thorough planning, purposeful monitoring and evaluation and effective quality and risk management of information, material and human resources. 



 
  Professor Nagib du Toit is the professor and head of the Division of Ophthalmology at University of Cape Town and Groote Schuur Hospital. 
Professor Cook Professor Colin Cook is a retired the professor and head of the Division of Ophthalmology at University of Cape Town and Groote Schuur Hospital. He has a special interest in Community Eye Health (CEH).
  Kanasa Kabaso is the Prfoject Manager of the Diabetic Retinopathy project supported by the World Diabetes Foundation through Orbis International
  William Dean, a specialist consultant ophthalmologist and honorary Associate Professor in the Division of Ophthalmology is the lead trainer of the Simulation Ophthalmic Surgical training project at UCT-CEHI.
